Solitary confinement is considered the worst punishment in high security prisons. Most would rather live among murders and rapists than spend a significant amount of time alone. Numerous studies indicate meditation increases self-awareness, compassion, and introspection, including a recent study from Harvard.
If your automatic patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving are limiting your personal growth, you can become more conscious by learning how to study yourself more objectively.
In a study led by a Harvard-affiliated team out of Massachusetts General Hospital, MRI scans documented how meditation produces massive changes in the brain's gray matter.
